African Food: Traditional Panjiri


Traditional Panjiri Ingredients

1 Whole wheat flour Sooji 1 tbsp.
2 Powdered sugar Dried ginger 1/2 cup 2 tbsp Ghee.
3 Gond.
4 Almonds.
5 Pistachios.
6 shredded coconut.
7 Cashew nuts.
8 Musk melon seeds.
9 Flaxseeds.
10 Poppy seeds.
11 Few Rose petals.

Cooking Step by Step

Step 1 Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan.Roast gond until puffed & Take it..
Step 2 Add another tsp of ghee in the pan.Roast all the nuts, coconut, musk melon seeds and flax seed..
Step 3 When the dry fruits cools down.Grind them to make a coarse powder..
Step 4 In the remaining ghee, roast flour and sooji on medium flame until golden brown..
Step 5 Keep stirring. Otherwise it will get burn..
Step 6 Once it gets roasted completely. Remove it from heat and let cool..
Step 7 Once the roasted flour mixture is cooled, add powdered sugar, dry ginger powder and ground dry nuts..
Step 8 Mix it well. and Make sure if adding raisins. Add it in the end when panjiri is completely cooled down otherwise it will get sour because of heat..
